The Marlboro Volunteer Fire Department proudly protects 100,000 people living in an area of 86 square miles. We operate out of 2 stations that protect a primarily residential area. Our department is a public department whose membership consist of volunteer members and supplement career staffing that is provided by the county.

The Marlboro Volunteer Fire Department was organized in 1925, to provide fire protection to the town of Upper Marlboro and the surrounding communities. Upper Marlboro is the county seat for Prince George's County. The town is home to the County Administration Building and County Courthouse as well as many other County Government offices.

Another 45 blaze claims resident

At 20:20 hrs Engine Company 45 and Truck 20 along with surrounding units were alerted to 10200 Old Indian Head Rd for the house on fire with 1 trapped.  Chief 20B arrived on scene first with half the house involved and bystanders still advising 1 person trapped inside. Chief 20A and  Engine 45 arrived on scene w/ there own hydrant and started an aggressive attack to knock what fire they could down in the area the resident was reported trapped.  TK 20 arrived moments later and quickly found a rear entrence not yet involved with fire and attempted a search.  Due to the fire being well advanced and conditions inside the house going down hill very quickly units were pulled out and an exterior attack was made.  TK20 put the ladder pipe in service along with many handlines the knock the fire down.  Once the fire was knocked the resident was found P4 inside the structure.  Units stayed for apporx. 3 hours assisting investigators with there operations as well.

At 20:48 hrs PSC dropped the box for 12901 Barnwell Pl for fire in the house.  Engine Co. 45 w/ 4 , Chief 845 as Batt. 7 , TK 20 w/ 6 , Chief 20 and Chief 20A responded on the call.  Engine 45 arrived on scene with there own hydrant and fire showing from the 1st and 2nd floor.  Batt 7 established command as 45 got a line in service to start fire attack.  The Truck and Chiefs from 20 arrived on scene and went to work as well.  Chief 20A taking DIV 1 , Chief 20 taking operations , Truck crew splitting into 2 teams , 1 throwing ladders and venting from the outside and the other assisting 45 as they made a quick interior attack.  As 45 got a knock on the fire , the inside team from the truck performed primary searches on the 1st and 2nd floor proving negative and venting along the way.  The fire was brought under control quickly and command scaled back units.


 
   
   
2009 Maryland State Water Supply Drill

Around 0800hrs companies from around the state arrived in Marlboro to register and begin a briefing before heading out for the 2009 Maryland State Water Supply Drill.  Under the direction of Chief 25 and Chief 20 companies got there assigned draft and dump areas.  For over 2 hours companies filled from draft sites and dumped to another area to keep a continues flow of water.  Working our way up were sustained 900gpm flow for a short period of time before water flow was stopped.  An average of 550gpm was flowed throughout the drill.  At the end of the drill we flowed 85,200 gallons total.  Afterwards companies gathered back at Co. 20 for lunch and de-briefing of the days activities.  Thank you to the county canteen for supplying bottled water and snacks at the drill, Marlboro associate members for breakfest and baden ladies aux for lunch.


 
   
   
All Volunteer Shift Brings Second Cut Job in 3 days

Around 23:20hrs units from company 45 and 20 were alerted to Duely Station Rd / Spring Water Dr for a car into a tree.  Chief 820B arrived on scene first and advised units coming in that there were 2 patients trapped and set up the Duely Station command.  Engine and Ambo 845 arrived on scene and started patient care.  Moments later Squad820 arrived on scene and went to work.  The squad crew stabilized the vehicle then removed to roof and entire passenger side of the car to provide plenty of room to remove both patients out and into EMS care.


 
   
   
Rainy Day Brings Cut Job

In the early afternoon Engine / Ambo 845 were alerted to the 6500blk of South Osbourne Rd for the 9-I.  Units from 845 arrived on scene and quickly realized there was 1 trapped in the vehicle and upgraded the call bringing Squad 820, Chief 820 and Chief 820B.  Chief 820B arrived on scene within minutes and established the South Osbourne Rd Command.  The Chief and Squad arrived on scene quickly going to work stablizing and begining extrication.  The Squad crew removed all 4 doors and the roof in a timely fashion to get the patient into awaiting EMS care.  The patient was transported to a local trauma facility by Trooper 2.

At 22:55hrs E845 , TK820 along with surrounding units were alerted to 14568 Old Colony Dr North for the house on fire.  E845 and Chief 820B arrived on the scene with smoke showing.  Within minutes TK and Chief 820 arrived on scene, the TK assisting E845, Chief 820 establishing command and Chief 820B w/ DIV 1.  After investigating it was found the fire was on the exterior of side C with minor damage to the interior.  Units from Marlboro stayed on scene for about an hour assisting the investigators being it was obvious this was not an accident.


 
BX Takes a Trip to Baden

Around 15:40hrs BX20 was alerted to 15550 Everygreen Way for the brush fire.  The BX arrived on scene and went to work assisting with efforts to contain the fire in a well wooded area.  With help from a chainsaw the BX made a path into the woods and operated for approx. 2 hours.


 
Get Well Soon F/F Daniel McGown

On April 8th while operating on a working house fire at #87 Herrington Dr F/F Daniel McGown was severely injured.  A MAYDAY was sounded on the fireground and units got him out of the house and into the hands of awaiting EMS. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the whole McGown family and wish him a quick recovery.  Get well soon.

Around 2230hrs Engine Company 20 was alerted to Penn Ave / Ritchie Marlboro Rd for the auto.  The Engine and Chief arrived on scene to find one and the same.  The auto was extingushed and Engine Company retured to service within 30min.


 
   
   
All Volunteer Shift Brings First Due Fire

With another 12hr volunteer shift coming to an end PSC dropped the box at 5912 Old Croom Station Rd for the house on fire.  Engine , Truck , The Chief and A Chief responded with a total of 10 volunteers.  Chief 820 arrived on scene with a 2 story single family and smoke showing.  Company 820 units arrived on scene and went to work.  Chief 820A taking interior investigated and found a working basement fire.  Engine Company stretched a line in while the Truck went to work throwing ground ladders and performing searches.  The fire was brought under control within 15mins.  Company 820 units cleared around 2130hrs.
