
2 Alarm warehouse fire in Upper Marlboro
At 7:28 am this morning the Marlboro Volunteer Fire Department was alerted to respond to 12601 Old Marlboro Pike for the Building Fire at B & K Rental, the company provides scaffolding, bleachers and seating for a variety of events. The White House, the Cherry Blossom Festival and a few area universities are listed as some of the company’s top clients, according to their website.
The assignment on box 20 – 01 included E820 Marlboro Vfd and A820 Ambulance from Marlboro Vfd, E837 Engine company from the Ritchie VFD, PE846 Engine Kentland – Largo station, E829B the Engine from the Silver Hill VFD, TW845 Tower Ladder from Croom Road, SQ827 the Rescue Squad from the Morningside VFD, TW826 the Tower Ladder from the District Heights VFD, TN823 the Tanker from the Forestville Vfd, TN843 the Tanker from the Bowie VFD at Pointer Ridge, TN840 the Tanker from the Volunteer Fire Department of Brandywine, Battalion 883, Battalion 887, WS825 the Water Supply Unit from the Clinton VFD, Chief 820 Robert Beavers from the Marlboro VFD. On arrival the units found heavy smoke and fire conditions and immediately called for the Working Fire Dispatch for additional help.
The Working Fire Dispatch included E823P Engine Forestville, TW833 Tower Ladder Kentland, MD845 Medic Unit Croom Road, SEMSDO Southern EMS Duty Officer, REHAB800 Rehab Unit, VSO Volunteer Service Officer, SO800 Safety Officer.
At 743 command called for a 2nd Alarm due to the large amount of combustible materials and difficulty accessing the fire areas. The second alarm included E816P Engine Bowie, AE09 Anne Arundle Engine Tanker 9, AWS27, PE805 Paramedic Engine Capital Heights, E828B Engine West Lanham Hills, TK828 Ladder Truck West Lanham Hills, TW839 Tower Ladder Bowie, CASQ05 Air Supply Montgomery County, AU817, CAN801 Canteen, Dunkirk Engine Co 5.
Later in the incident the warehouse had several collapses of the roof and sides of the building, the warehouse was deemed a total loss, the firefighting efforts were changed to exterior only, and excavators were brought in to dismantle the warehouse and fully extinguish the fire.
