PG Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association guest speakers Badges United Foundation
On 3/13/19 at the regular meeting of the Prince Georges County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association meeting Sara Laszaic, Kim DeFiori & Thor (Kims PTSD Dog) of the Badges United Foundation, were guests speakers at the meeting of the membership. After seeing their appearance on Fox 5, Marlboro VFD member Jeff Beavers reached out to them, about placing a link on our website, to help those who are there to help first responders, and then communicated with PGCVFRA President to arrange their appearance at the meeting to reach a broad the membership to make them aware of their mission.
The Badges United Foundation is a Non Profit Organization which hosts recreational events in the Washington D.C. area specifically to former and current First Responders along with their significant others, at no cost.
The events are intended to allow the First Responders to relax with mindful activities while the team teaches healthy sleep, nutrition, and exercise practices. The first responders will have fun and are encouraged to build their social network. Their certified team offers individual wellness coaching and can provide treatment resources if needed.
First responders see everything from the joyous events like the birth of a child to the more tragic events like traumatic deaths, that can leave first responders with lasting scars and PTSD, it is good to have the team at Badges United looking out for our first responders.
