Maryland State Firemen’s Association Hall of Fame inducts 2 PG County Volunteers
During the 2018 Maryland State Firemen’s Association Convention in Ocean City Maryland, the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony Included 2 members of the Prince George’s County Volunteer Fire Department. From the Glen Dale VFD Lee Lutz was inducted, and from the Marlboro Volunteer Fire Department Julian “Jay” Tucker was Inducted. Jay’s induction was a monumental task to keep this hidden from him until the induction, keep any of Jay’s fellow volunteers, firemen and associated organizations from telling him was hard enough, but Jay who also repeatedly stated “I don’t do mornings” presented the second biggest challenge, but thanks to the help of Fire Commissioner Kenny Stack, and Deputy Chief Jimmy McClelland who convinced him to come help at the ceremony Jay arrived and was surprised to receive this honor. In attendance were members of the Marlboro VFD, PGFD Staff, fellow Volunteers and able to sneak in undetected were Jays family members including his daughter and grand daughters. Congratulation on this honor to all the recipients and to Marlboro’s own Jay Tucker.
