George Edward “Buddy” Green

Past Assistant and Deputy Chief, Life Member

George Edward “Buddy” Green, Jr served the department for many years as a dedicated member and officer, going through the many ranks and serving as Chief 20 B 1982 to 1984, and Chief 20 A from 1987 to 1992, and was a Life Member.  On February 23, 2011 the department was notified of his passing after a battle with cancer.  he was born in Washington D.C. on January 24, 1949 to George Edward, Sr. and Elizabeth Emma Owens Green, which preceded him in death.

Buddy grew up in the Upper Marlboro, MD area and graduated in 1967 from Frederick Douglass H.S. in Upper Marlboro.  An Army Veteran and a Volunteer Fireman for stations 20/45 in Upper Marlboro, MD, he also enjoyed donating blood to help others. He was a 33 gallon blood donor through the American Red Cross and Apheresis donor.  Prior to his death he was employed by A & D Hauling of Edgewater, FL. He is survived by his wife, Diann Green of Cocoa; daughters, Lisa M. Browne (Sonny) of Camp Springs, MD, Alisha R. Carosiello (J) of Melbourne, FL and Deana E. Green of Crofton, MD. Grandchildren, Blaine E. Stuart, Brianna T. Grant “his little princess” and Ambre L. Carosiello of Melbourne, FL, Brandon E.C. Browne of Camp Springs, MD, Erica Vail (Judd) of Downingtown, PA and Matthew V. Merchant, Jr. of Crofton, MD; great-grandchild, McKenzie Vail of Downingtown, PA. Sister, Cheryl L. Jackson (Walter) of S.C.; brother, John C. Grumbine of MD; and three nieces and two nephews. Two sisters also preceded him death, Barbara J. Green and Elizabeth S. O’Rell.  He was cremated, and his remains given to his wife.
