Judge T. Van Claggett was a Founding Member of the Marlboro VFD, President of the Department from 1925 to 1928, prominent Judge for the State of Maryland, who helped to organize and incorporate the department.  Records from this time period are scarce but internet searches show that he was born on May 1, 1872 and went to his final resting place on January 18, 1947.  He was laid to rest at Trinity Episcopal Church Cemetery, in Upper Marlboro.
